The 98hh App vs Mobile Browser — What's the Real Difference?
A fair question that comes up often: if the 98hh website already works in a mobile browser, is the app actually worth installing? The honest answer is yes, for most Pakistani players, and here's why.
The most noticeable difference is speed. The app is a native installation on your device, which means it doesn't need to load the full website on every session. Assets are cached locally — the lobby layout, game thumbnails, navigation icons — so when you open the app the interface is ready almost immediately. If you've ever tried to open a sports betting page during the final overs of a PSL match and waited for the browser to load, you know how frustrating that is. The app removes most of that latency.
The second meaningful difference is push notifications. A mobile browser can't send you a push alert that a match is about to go live or that a PSL fixture's odds have shifted significantly since you last checked. The app can. You set your notification preferences once and the app handles the rest — you get the relevant update without having to actively monitor anything. For sports bettors in particular, this kind of timely update is genuinely useful.
Biometric login is another app-exclusive feature. Logging in via fingerprint or Face ID is faster and slightly more secure than typing a password — especially important on a phone where someone might borrow your device for a moment. The password itself is stored securely and the biometric layer is just a convenient, quick way to authenticate without reducing security.
The browser version of 98hh is a fully valid way to play and many players do use it exclusively, particularly on iOS devices where APK installation isn't relevant and the browser version performs well. But for players who are active daily — checking PSL odds, managing bets, playing slots in the evening — the app delivers a noticeably smoother experience over time.
Using the App for Cricket and PSL Betting
Cricket betting through the 98hh App during a live PSL match is probably the most common high-intensity use case for Pakistani players. The workflow is: the match starts, you open the app (fast — two seconds or less typically), navigate to the live sports section, check the current in-play markets and odds, decide your bet and place it. The whole process from opening the app to a confirmed bet should take well under a minute.
The app keeps your bet slip persistent between screens, meaning you can add a selection in the sports section, switch to check your wallet balance, and come back to the bet slip without losing your selection. This seems like a small detail but it's noticeably more convenient than the browser equivalent where navigating away from a page can sometimes clear a pending bet slip.
International cricket fixtures — Pakistan internationals, T20 World Cup matches, important bilateral series against India, Australia and England — all carry the same live in-play coverage through the app as they do on the website. Match times are shown in Pakistan Standard Time throughout the app, so you never need to convert from another timezone when checking upcoming fixtures.
Managing Your PKR Wallet Through the App
Depositing and withdrawing PKR through the 98hh App is designed to be as quick as possible. JazzCash and Easypaisa are the most commonly used methods for Pakistani players and both are integrated directly — no redirect to an external site or third-party app. You enter the amount in PKR, confirm the transaction and the balance appears in your 98hh wallet, typically within thirty seconds for most JazzCash and Easypaisa transactions.
Withdrawal requests follow the same straightforward path. Request an amount in PKR, choose your preferred method and confirm. The processing time varies by method but the app keeps you updated on withdrawal status with a notification when the payment clears. Raast and Bank Transfer withdrawals are also available for players who prefer those channels.
